Classics by the Coast
The All Classic Motor Club of CQ Inc.’s, Classics by the Coast has established itself as a premier event for the Capricorn Coast and indeed Central Queensland since the inaugural event in 1999. This biennial Show & Shine picnic day at Bell Park in Emu Park steadily increased in size and prominence since then, attracting thousands of visitors to the Capricorn Coast and raising many thousands of dollars for charities and community groups.
Classics by the Coast 2019.
The variety of vehicles, the support from Sponsors, Spectators and other Clubs was amazing. There was everything from the ‘Back to the Future’ DeLorean to ‘Classics of the future’ (2019 Camaro), vintage commercial trucks to vintage race cars, a fire truck, american vehicles, english vehicles, european vehicles and the wonderfully restored Motor Cycles. To add to this, we were lucky enough to have the Shannon’s Super Rig on show with the driving simulators, play station games, automotive memorabilia and the Goggomobile.
There was plenty of great food and as for the entertainment, the Line Lockers and Dee Jay Jimmy D were fantastic and really kept the place hoppIng.
Fashions by the Coast was another huge success, with a large number of entrants and wonderfully supported by Tegan from Atomic Vintage and Peg’s Pinups.
We certainly wouldn’t be able to put on such a great show without our Sponsors. Livingstone Shire Council once again came to the fore with sponsorship and presenting Bell Park in such a glorious fashion. Repco Auto Store and Engine Centre Rockhampton were again on board. Triple M, 4RO and Channel 9 were our media sponsors, with both radio stations doing live broadcasts from Bell Park.
Our Trade Supporters are just another big part of this day and without their belief in the success of the day it would be hard to continue our Charity Fundraising. If you can, please support these businesses in any way.
The most important aspect though, is the vehicles. Prior to the event we had 100 vehicles nominated, but on the morning they just kept rolling in. WOW!! We finished with 327 nominations. The support from owners and Clubs through Queensland is great and we hope they enjoyed themselves and will return in 2021.
The funds raised this year were distributed to The Emu Park Surf Life Saving Club ($20,000-00) and Give Me 5 for Kids ($2,500-00), who were very appreciative of our support.
A big thank you to Gerard Kearney for the use of his artwork in our poster and a huge thank you to Gene Kennedy for digitally enhancing the artwork to enable this poster to be so eye catching.
Of course, none of this would run as smoothly as it does without the Committee and ALL the ACMC members who chip in and help with all the jobs on the day.
